Last Saturday, April 15, the Real Betis-RCD Espanyol match took place, which, for the second consecutive season, became the greenest match of the year.

Forever Green, the sustainability platform founded by Real Betis Balompié, the Spanish Government and LaLiga, held a match full of initiatives that have contributed to raising awareness and fighting for environmental health.

Sustainable actions

Everything that revolved around the sporting event fulfilled the aim of promoting the sustainable values pursued by the foundation.

The players’ equipment was made from recycled materials and the stadium steps featured tips on how to take care of the planet. In addition, sustainable means of transportation were promoted by offering promotional codes to fans.

On the other hand, Gravity Wave, a national project working for clean oceans, was in charge of making the seats of the third dugout from fishermen’s nets.

Ecoballution and its participation in the project

Ecoballution together with Finetwork, a Spanish fiber and mobile company, and Forever Green, have rescued 100 kg of nets from marine waste, to transform them into the new nets for the goals of the Betis stadium. These nets have already been previously seen on March 26th, in the baskets of the Real Betis Baloncesto – Unicaja match of the Endesa League.

This action represents the reduction of 166.37 kg of C02 emissions to the atmosphere, which is another achievement of the result of the union of sport with causes for a better future.
